I recently printed 8x10's of the same newborn picture - one from mpix.com and one from Walmart. I took a picture of the prints to show you the amazing difference. Walmart's picture could not compare to the one from mpix! Walmart adds much more contrast and has obvious pixelation. If you are a loyal Walmart customer, PLEASE realize that we as photographers spend time editing our pictures to get them to look just the way we like, and for you as a client to then print them out at Walmart not only misrepresents our work, but it also causes you to miss out on better quality pictures! With that being said, I did like the whiteness of the blanket on the Walmart print, and if I use a white blanket for a shoot again, I will definitely whiten it. But prints should always look just the way they look on the photographer's computer monitor -- and mpix's did just that.
